Business

Business is an easy subject that doesn't require too much effort. It is a must that the student has a great potential to learn and understand not just to memorize. It's syllabus is also very easy and interesting.

It consists of 6 units and there are two exam papers each are weighted 50% :

Paper 1: Examination paper consisting of four questions requiring a mixture of short structured essay writing answers. Total marks are 80 accounting for 50% of the total grade.

Paper 2: Examination paper consisting of four questions based on a case study, provided as an Insert with the paper. This paper requires a mixture of long structured essay writing answers. Total marks are 80 accounting for 50% of the total grade.

The syllabus is divided into 6 main units:

  • Understanding business activity
  • People in business
  • Marketing
  • Operating management
  • Accounting & Finance
  • External influences on business activity (legal, economic & environmental)
Economics

Economics is a very useful subject because it gives you the ability to distinguish between facts and value judgments in economic issues which are related to our daily life. It gives you the ability to have a greater role in the decision making processes in everyday life. It requires the student to have a great potential to learn and understand, not just to memorize.

It consists of 6 units and there are two exam papers, the first one is MCQ which weights 30%, the second one is a structured question papers which weights 70% :

Paper 1: Multiple choice component consisting of 30 questions.

Paper 2: Examination paper consisting of one compulsory question with a case study and other four questions by which students have to choose three questions only to solve.

The syllabus is divided into 6 main units:

  • The basic economic problem
  • The allocation of resources
  • Microeconomics decision makers
  • Government and the macroeconomy
  • Economic development
  • International trade and globalization
Travel and Tourism

Travel and Tourism OL discusses the tourism industry in the following aspects:

  • Types of tourism activities
  • Types of tourists
  • The tourism industry and how it works, and how the government regulates it
  • How to market the destination and highlight its favorable qualities

It is a suitable subject for people interested in travelling, different cultures and how to manage a businesses operating in a different industry. Also, the subject does not contain mathematical questions of any kind.

Exam Style:

Paper 1: 100 marks paper (60% of total grade) - 2 hours - 4 questions, each 5 sections.

Paper 2: 100 marks paper (40% of total grade) - 2 hours and a half - 4 questions each 4 sections.
